What ECAS means for food & ingestible products

ECAS (the Emirates Conformity Assessment Scheme) is the mandatory product-conformity route operated by the Ministry of Industry & Advanced Technology (MoIAT). For food-contact, ingestible and consumer-chemical products, the certificate confirms the product meets the relevant UAE/GSO health & safety standard before import or local distribution. The certificate is issued by MoIAT and its Notified Bodies — our role is to get your dossier right the first time so the application moves without rejection or re-testing.

Why importers choose TheCorpBridge

Technical precision, not a certificate factory

We match each product to the exact GSO standard, test panel and annex — the detail that decides whether MoIAT accepts your file on the first pass.

In-house FSMS team

A 12-strong food-safety team handles your dossier directly — no outsourcing, no hand-offs, no lost context between testing and submission.

The product-registration bridge

ECAS rarely stands alone. We connect it to Dubai Municipality registration, label assessment and your FSMS so the whole compliance chain lines up.

UAE + GCC gateway

One partner for cross-border market access across the UAE and wider GCC — accredited by Dubai Municipality and Highfield/HABC.

How the application works

Four stages from product to issued certificate. We run the first three; MoIAT and its Notified Body issue the certificate.

Assess & match

We confirm the product category, cabinet resolution and applicable GSO standard, and map exactly which documents and tests apply.

Prepare the file

We compile the technical dossier, arrange accredited-laboratory testing, and prepare declarations, labels and conformity documents.

Submit & manage

We register and submit through the MoIAT portal, then manage reviewer queries and document follow-ups on your behalf.

Certificate issued

MoIAT / its Notified Body issues the ECAS conformity certificate. We hand it over ready for customs and distribution.

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers to the questions importers and manufacturers ask most.

Who needs an ECAS certificate for food or ingestible products in the UAE?
Any manufacturer or trader placing food-contact materials, honey, organic products, detergents or bottled water on the UAE market needs the relevant MoIAT conformity certificate before import or distribution. It applies to both locally made and imported products.
Is ECAS the same as Dubai Municipality food registration?
No — they are separate. ECAS is the MoIAT product-conformity certificate proving the product meets the UAE/GSO standard. Dubai Municipality registration (Montaji / DM Food) is a separate municipal approval to sell within Dubai. Most food businesses need both, and they connect: we manage them together so the chain lines up.
Do I need a separate certificate for the product and its packaging?
Often yes. Food-contact packaging is certified under its own resolution (Cabinet Resolution 20 of 2015), and some categories — such as bottled water — require a food-contact certificate for rPET packaging in addition to the product certificate. We identify every certificate your product chain needs up front, so nothing surfaces at customs.
How long does ECAS take?
Once a complete, correct dossier is submitted, MoIAT's processing target is around 1.5 working days for most food categories (about 6 for EQM drinking water). The real timeline is dossier preparation and accredited testing — which is exactly where getting it right the first time saves weeks of rejections and re-testing.
Does TheCorpBridge issue the ECAS certificate?
No. The ECAS certificate is issued by MoIAT and its Notified Bodies. TheCorpBridge is the application consultant — we prepare your technical file, arrange accredited testing, match the product to the correct standard, and manage the MoIAT submission end-to-end so it is approved without delay.
