Arabic Food Label Translation for UAE & GCC Food Products

Compliance-grade Arabic label copy that Dubai Municipality accepts at registration — not literal translation that gets your product rejected.

Why English-only labels fail at registration

Under GSO 9:2022, every prepackaged food product sold in the UAE and the wider GCC must carry its mandatory information in Arabic — and where English or another language appears, it must sit alongside the Arabic, not replace it. A product with an English-only label, or one run through machine translation, is routinely held or rejected at Dubai Municipality food registration. The fix isn't “translate the words” — it's producing label copy that maps each mandatory particular to the exact Arabic term the authority expects.

What we produce

We create artwork-ready bilingual (Arabic–English) label copy covering every mandatory particular under GSO 9:2022:

  • Product name reflecting the true nature of the food
  • Full ingredients list in descending order by weight
  • Allergen declarations
  • Food additives with their function and E-numbers
  • Net content / drained weight
  • Country of origin
  • Manufacturer, packer, importer or distributor details
  • Production and expiry dates in the accepted format
  • Storage and handling conditions
  • Lot / batch identification where applicable

You send us your existing artwork or copy; we return translated, registration-ready text your designer can drop straight into the label.

Brand & product name transliteration

The step literal translation gets wrong: rendering your brand name and product descriptors into Arabic script correctly — phonetically faithful, commercially sensible, and consistent with how the authority expects trade names to appear. We handle transliteration so your brand reads right in Arabic and still clears review.

Compliance-grade, not literal

Anyone can translate a sentence. We translate to what the registrar accepts: the correct regulatory Arabic for declarations, additives, claims and warnings — the wording that prevents a label being kicked back mid-registration and costing you a resubmission cycle.

Coverage

UAE (Dubai Municipality food registration) plus GCC markets operating under the GSO labelling framework. Need the same product registered in Saudi Arabia? That runs under SFDA — we bridge both gateways from a single brief.

Frequently asked questions

Is Arabic mandatory on food labels in the UAE?
Yes. Under GSO 9:2022, mandatory label information must appear in Arabic. Another language such as English may appear alongside the Arabic, but cannot replace it. English-only labels are not accepted at registration.
Can I just use machine translation?
It's a registration risk. Machine and literal translations frequently mis-render regulatory terms, additive names and declarations, which leads to the label being held or rejected. We prepare the correct regulatory Arabic so the label clears review the first time.
Do you translate the artwork, or just the text?
We deliver translated, artwork-ready copy. Your designer places it into the label file. This keeps your brand's design control intact while ensuring the wording is compliant.
Do you also cover Saudi Arabia?
Yes. KSA registration runs under SFDA rather than Dubai Municipality. We handle both GCC gateways, so a single product can be prepared for UAE and Saudi markets together.
How is this different from your Label Assessment service?
Label Assessment checks an existing label against the rules and reports what to fix. This service produces the compliant Arabic label copy from scratch. Many clients use both: translate first, then assess before printing.
