What it covers

This certificate covers oxo-biodegradable plastics — carrier, shopping, garbage and garment bags, courier, security and mail-order bags, disposable cutlery, bubble and cushioning wrap, flower, overwrap, stretch, cling and shrink film, carton liners, disposable PPE-type plastics, seedling bags, polyethylene sheets and bakery bags. Two requirements decide the outcome: the use of MoIAT-approved additives, and an accredited test report to UAE Standard 5009/2009 covering abiotic degradation, residual material on the non-degradable fraction, and ultimate aerobic biodegradability. Approved products may carry the Oxo-biodegradable conformity mark.

Which products are covered?

What testing is required?

Do the additives need to be approved?

Yes. The product must use MoIAT-approved additives, with a per-batch additive declaration stating the percentage. We confirm your additive is on the approved list before applying.
