What it covers

Legal metrology covers instruments whose accuracy is legally controlled. That spans commercial-exchange instruments (scales, fuel meters, taximeters, and electricity, water, gas and heat meters), health instruments (blood-pressure devices, clinical thermometers, glucometers), environment and safety instruments (tyre gauges, gas analyzers) and law-enforcement instruments (speed radar). Military, research and instructional-use instruments are excluded. Each instrument is tested against its approved standard and matched electronically to the application.

What is excluded?

Instruments for military, research or instructional use are outside this route. We confirm whether your instrument needs registration before any work begins.
